Knowing a company's process is very important, because it really is all about how your project is developed. The more in-depth the process the better the finished product will be. A good design will bring together both form and function to create a space that is both beautiful and a joy to use.
Just about any kitchen or bath designer can throw together a basic design in just a few minutes, creating a basic "functional" space, ie most "spec home" kitchens which typically includes one drawer stack cabinet, maybe a trash pullout and a "tray divider " cabinet, then fill in the rest with standard cabinets. While these kitchens usually fill the space and generally look relatively nice, once you start to use them it can become somewhat frustrating because the way you like to use the space was not considered.
The first step in our process is to make an appointment for us to meet for the initial consultation. When you set the appointment you will be sent a questionnaire, please fill it out as completely as possible and email it back to us.This questionnaire is designed to get you to really think about the project and gives us information about your personal preferences, habits, and needs so we can create a space that maximizes both form and function on a personal level.
At Twin Cedars Design we think it is very important to start the design process on site.
If you are remodeling a space we want to see it before we start designing. This will give us a chance to get a feel for your individual taste and style. We will discuss the scope of the project, discuss what you like and dislike about the space's form and function, take accurate measurements, take some pictures of the existing space, evaluate every aspect of the space including both natural lighting and artificial lighting system, breaker box, plumbing etc..
If you are building a new home, we would still like to meet at your current home. This might seem odd because usually the new home will have a completely different floor plan, but it is important for many of the same reasons that we want to do a site visit for remodeling. Aside from helping to get to know your personal tastes and styles, it is important to find out your likes and dislikes about the form and function of your current space.
The Interview portion of the consultation: During the interview portion of the consultation we will take some time to get to know each other to see if Twin Cedars Design is a good fit for you, as well as if you are a good fit for Twin Cedars Design. This is a two way conversation where we will discuss a lot of what is on the questionnaire and give you a chance to ask any questions that you may have for us. Some of the main things we will discuss is the timeline, budget and any special circumstances having to do with the job.
Initial Material Selections will also be made at this time, which will include general style and colors for the products to be used in the project.
When you decide to proceed with the process after the initial consultation, we will design a plan for your project within the parameters(budget, timeline, etc.) that we agree on during the consultation.
Once the initial design or designs are done we will meet at your home to review them. This is usually presented on the laptop, or can be sent to your tv if is compatible. You will be able to view the floor plans as well as color perspective renderings. We will discuss the design and note any changes that may need to be made. We will also discuss the pricing of the project as designed, and how the changes will effect the pricing as well. We will repeat the process until we have the ideal design for you. Once you decide on the final plan and material selections we will create a 3D Virtual Reality presentation that you will be able to view with our VR Glasses. This will give you a very good idea of how the finished project will look.
Once the designs are finalized, and the price agreed upon, a contract detailing the scope of the work to be done, the product material selections and the timeline. At the time of signing, a deposit of 80% of the materials will be required. The labor and the balance of the materials will be due as noted in the contract
When the products are delivered, Twin Cedars Design will inspect them to insure that they are correct and not damaged. The installation of the project will not begin until all products are on hand. Twin Cedars Design will check the jobsite on a regular basis to insure that the install goes smoothly.
Once the installation nears completion, Twin Cedars Design and the installer will complete a preliminary walkthrough with the customer to address any issues or concerns.
After all of the issues have been addressed, Twin Cedars Design will complete a final walkthrough with the client to insure customer satisfaction.
Approximately 30 days after completion of the job, we will contact you to make sure that there are no issues with the project. At one year we will check in again to make any adjustments that may need to be made to the project.
